About Us

The Brighterside Boxing team was started as a vehicle to steer the inner-city youths of Cleveland from drugs and street violence.  This team came to be because someone saw a need to help the neighborhood youths to keep them on a positive path.  That someone was Fred Wilson(father of five, member of the Brighterside Street Club, Chairman of the Drug Free Zone strategy Council for the Brighterside, a member of Calvary Apostolic Assembly under the direction of Bishop Lewis Q. Fitzpatrick) who began coaching some of the teens out of his basement for years.  Word spread fast of him volunteering with the kids, what started with eight grew to more than his basement could accommodate.  So, he began to seek out help from others.

His search lead him to connect with Bob Davis(father of seven, coach of the Warehouse Warriors, a member of Greater First United Church under the direction of Pastor Reed) who bring over thirty years of boxing experience, he has trained countless champions on both an amateur and professional level.  The two share the same vision and the same goal.   They believe by keeping God first they will build a strong team and stronger character in the children.  Fred says "The City of Cleveland has a quality of life issue where parents need help raising and disciplining their children and God put us here to help any way we can so this is our ministry".  Bob believe that coaches should teach the same things the same way and relay the same message and belief, with everyone on one accord with God good things are bound to happen.

Together They envision building a state of the art facility that will be equip to house boxers, educate the boxers and other neighborhood youth , and host world class tournaments.
